Sacrificer's Wife/Sacrificed Wife: Gender Patterns in Ancient Indian Religion

A study of the conflicting models of gender construction in ancient India, through examination of the ambiguous figure of the 'sacrificer's wife', both ritual participant and ritual victim, in the ritual and mythological texts of Vedic and Epic India.
