The Feminization of Popular Piety in Nineteenth-Century France
An interpretive study of the feminization of the dominant religion of Catholicism for the development of the family, the state, French political culture and the relationship between the sexes in the 19th century, drawing on legal cases, parliamentary debates, memoirs, and works of popular devotion.
