Healers of the Cinnamon Tree, Priestesses of the Moon: Women's Spiritual Empowerment Among the Chilean Mapuche

Using ethnographic and ethnohistorical data, a study of the predominance of Mapuche women as machis (shaman/healers) in Chile's south central valleys as Mapuche society is assimilated into the Chilean state.
